As some of you may know, Brother Leo Teemant of the Provo Peak 10th ward has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and this has created a difficult situation for his wife and 3 young children. He was diagnosed at the time of his graduation from BYU and due to his condition he is unemployed and he only has limited health insurance. Some of us who are friends of the Teemants are organizing efforts to help raise funds to assist their family, but due to the Church's position on fundraising activities everything we are organizing is on a volunteer/community basis .
President Christiansen has authorized us to use church contact information lists to send out information via email about volunteer opportunities to those who reside within our stake and community in case they are interested in participating. However, even though we have permission to use Church contact information to "spread the word", these are NOT Church sponsored events or activities but rather they are COMMUNITY activities.
